It’s been almost four decades and yet, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have no plans to tie the knot, despite some recent speculations claiming the opposite! The actor couple has been in a relationship for no less than 37 years and still don’t see the purpose of ever saying ‘I do.’
As you know, there are couples out there who are ready to tie the knot mere months into their romance stories but the same cannot be said about Kurt and Goldie, even after being in love with each other for nearly four decades!
While some people may have their opinions on their choice to never get married, the longtime pair defended the decision during a new interview for PEOPLE magazine.
Kurt shared with the news outlet that ‘For people like us, the marriage certificate was not going to create anything that otherwise we would not have. I don’t know. 40 years is not enough to finally say, ‘Well I guess…’’
Goldie then added that ‘Well, we’re not at 40 years yet,’ jokingly suggesting that they might be ready for that commitment in three years’ time!
The reality is that, Kurt and Goldie simply don’t need a ring to be happy together.
She went on to tell the magazine that ‘Our children got married. I mean, they didn’t not get married. Oliver’s very happily married, and Wyatt’s very happily married. Katie got married once, and that didn’t work, and she’s with this most amazing human, and I don’t know if she’ll marry again. The point is that we all tried marriage, and sometimes marriage doesn’t work. [And] It’s okay. It’s not about marriage. It’s about the people and the relationship, and the will to stay together. You’ve got to give things up, but the joy and the excitement of being together and touching the toes of somebody at night is really a nice feeling.’
As fans may know, the Hollywood stars met and started dating in 1983 while filming Swing Shift together.
At the time, she was 21 while he was still a minor, at 16.
